GUIDE · COATINGS
If you've collected garage floor quotes in the GTA, you've probably seen both epoxy and polyaspartic. They are different chemistries, many systems use both, and the label alone doesn't tell you which quote is better.
Epoxy is a two-part resin system that has been used on concrete floors for decades. It builds thickness well and bonds strongly to properly prepared concrete. Many standard epoxies can yellow (amber) with sunlight exposure, which is one reason they are often finished with a different topcoat.
Polyaspartic is a type of aliphatic polyurea coating. It typically cures much faster than epoxy, is generally more resistant to UV yellowing, and is used as a topcoat or as a full system. Some polyaspartic data sheets also allow application at lower temperatures than typical epoxies, which matters in cold GTA garages. The fast cure shortens the working time, so installation technique matters.
A common garage system is an epoxy base coat, often with flake, under a polyaspartic or polyurethane topcoat. So the useful question is not just epoxy or polyaspartic, but what each layer is, how thick it is, and why it was chosen.
Epoxy Mind's published finishes are metallic, flake, solid-colour and marble-art epoxy. If you're comparing our quote with a polyaspartic quote, send us the other system's layer list and we'll explain the differences in plain terms.
